WORLD MAP OF DARKROYALTY BOOKS
I was advised by my sister and some authors that it's a good idea to only write about places you've been. That way my readers aren't stuck in a white room/area wondering what their surroundings look like. I love writing about different places but I don't travel, nor do I want all my characters to live in the same area. So instead of always writing about the US or UK which I have never been to, and having everyone living in the same place I decided to write about made-up cities, towns, and villages, with descriptions from the island where I'm from and places I wish to visit one day.
However, I confused myself to the point of hair-pulling confusion since I write so many books and I enjoy cross-referencing and making characters from different books meet or mention each other. To help me with that, I created a map that I can use and have a better idea of where I want my characters to live due to their plot and it gave me a better insight when it came to explaining their living arrangements.
Since I finally have all my names down, it's gonna be easier for me to mention locations and explain the distance they are from each other. It took me reading a few of my published works to know how far to put one location from the next as well as include two fictional Royal Countries.
I am sharing my map with you, I created it with rollforfantasy.com where I sometimes got the inspiration on names to call my characters, locations, and planets. Most locations on this map are named after areas on the island I live (Saint Lucia).
